let's say you want to watch a double feature & a short (standard practice in commercial movie houses decades ago).
1. which Jodorowsky movie (or movies, if you want to watch 2 of his back to back) would you pick?
2. if you choose a second feature written & directed by some other auteur, please name it.
3. what would you choose for a short?
to answer my own questions: Santa Sangre, followed by Kenneth Anger's Scorpio Rising, followed by El Topo!

Re: fun questions
Wed, February 21, 2007 - 11:18 AMI would never watch a Jodorowsky double feature, as each of his films are for me as a cornocopia banquet. I need a few days to properly digest before returning to the table. -

Re: fun questions
Fri, October 12, 2007 - 9:57 AM2 more double features plus shorts:
Fando & Lis followed by The Man We'd Like To Hang (Kenneth Anger's short study of some drawings and paintings by Aliester Crowley) followed by Fantastic Planet, the science fiction animated cartoon feature that has artwork by Jodo's old Panic Theatre collaborator Roland Topor.
and the other...first, The Holy Mountain. then for a short (2 very short shorts actually) a segment of the old t.v. science program Mr. Wizard plus a Toofer Turtle cartoon ("drizzle, drazzle, druzzle, drome, time for this one to come home!") then the second feature, Kenneth Anger's movie Lucifer Rising. -

Re: fun questions
Fri, October 12, 2007 - 11:38 AMThe kenneth anger stuff works here because most of them are short
and would help build the experience.....
and I gotta say... Fantastic Planet is one of my all time favorite movies....
it is shockingly brilliant and beautiful to me and I am amazed at how
it just gets better with age and the more I return to it....
a deluxe DVD had the full score on it (I had the score on LP)
and so I was able to pull the music from the DVD and play it now
on my itunes.
AWESOME.
I am also not sure a Jodo double feature wouldn't be a little too much
but here is one that might go well as a double feature or at least to watch
on two consecutive nights....
El Topo
Aguirre
cheers

Re: fun questions
Mon, October 15, 2007 - 8:53 AM1. El Topo & Fando y Lis, in that order
2.
3. some cartoon short film in the style of aeon flux, or mobius's, but either way with space agey spiritualistic ideas of the possible future
to answer my own questions: Santa Sangre, followed by Kenneth Anger's Scorpio Rising, followed by El Topo!
