Re: questions thread
Fri, April 16, 2004 - 11:13 AMI once saw a flyer on Ebay that claimed to be for a Panic Theater event. It had his name written on it and it was drawn in a simple cartoon style. I can't confirm if he drew it or even if it was an authentic flyer, but that's the closest thing I've heard of to Jodorowsky 'drafting' art. The Japanese boxset (mentioned in another thread) supposedly includes a Tarot deck that he designed, but I don't know if he actually drew/painted it.

Fri, April 23, 2004 - 6:17 AMHas anyone else heard the rumor that Jodorowsky's next project is being funded by Marilyn Manson? Can anyone confirm this? Are any of you alive?

Sat, April 24, 2004 - 3:28 PMhi Alp, yes we're alive, though sometimes barely...
I actually heard that Marilyn Manson was going to act in Jodorowsky's next movie "the Son of El Topo", I'm just not sure where I got this info, nor which part he'd play. I'll let you know as soon as I remember, it was somewhere online... -

Re: questions thread
Sat, April 24, 2004 - 3:33 PMI just remembered where I read about it, it was in
www.imdb.com
if you search Jodorowsky and click on sons of El Top, they claim Manson will be playing Cain, one of El Topo's sons.
also, this page says Marilyn Manson and Johnny Depp were once involved in the project, but doesn't explain much www.naturalbornviewers.com/arch...w.htm -

Re: questions thread
Mon, April 26, 2004 - 7:05 AMAhh. It's a truly interesting predicament Jodorowsky has been in with regards to both production and distribution of his films. I think only Kenneth Anger and Orson Welles have ever met with comparable obstacles in their careers. Maybe the comics are going to be it. His comics are really great and the medium is actually much like film (sequential storytelling).
I guess we should just be greatful that he's still so damn productive in any medium and that there are so many pirates on his side. -

Re: questions thread
Thu, May 6, 2004 - 5:52 PMi actually saw Jodorowsky give a talk last year at wacko/La Luz de Jesus gallery in LA, and he said the reason he went on to make comics was because there is no limits to what he can do in that medium... whereas in film, there's budget, special effects, etc to deal with.

Re: questions thread
Mon, June 7, 2004 - 12:50 PMThis project has been knocked around for quite some time, actually, particularly because of Jordorowsky's longstanding feud with Allen Klein (that LA Weekly article also explains that this feud is the reason we still don't have "El Topo" and "The Holy Mountain" on DVD.)
As for Manson funding "Sons," I don't think it's going to happen. Manson was supposed to make a film based on the "Holy Wood" LP, but when that album flopped, it became clear to the money men in Hollywood that Marilyn didn't have quite the hold on American pop culture as was previously assumed (and thank either God or Satan for that, because I'm sure it would have been a left-hand path version of "Under the Cherry Moon" if that movie DID get made). And Jordorowsky's ideas are, to put it mildly, pretty expensive, and would cost more than what Marilyn could afford to sink into a project as esoteric as this. Granted, if Johnny had gotten involved with this, it would be a different story. But Marilyn alone does not possess enough star power to float this boat. -
